The Client

Fonderie SIME - a company specializing in the production of boilers, headquartered in Legnago – Italy and with plants in Legnago and San Giovanni Lupatoto in the Verona area.
 

The Need

Fonderie SIME Spa were looking for an electromagnet to be used on a Liebherr material handler to handle sprues, a material generated by the casting process. Sprues, when recovered and carefully cleaned, become the basis for new casting products.

The company also needed a magnet capable of recovering small ferrous pieces from scrap, improving production efficiency and reducing waste.
In addition to technical performance, SIME Spa required maximum attention to operational safety, with comprehensive support for documentation, installation, and operator training to ensure safe and immediate operation.
 

The Solution

The flow of sprues exiting the foundry is high and constant: therefore, a powerful, productive, and reliable electromagnet was needed.
To meet this requirement, we supplied Fonderie SIME Spa, through Servicemek Srl—which provided a Liebherr 316 material handler —with an AM 114IC hydraulic magnet with chain, perfectly fit for the vehicle in use.

This electromagnet, as any other ATIB Magnetics hydraulic magnet, is equipped with a built-in hydraulic generator, allowing it to be used even on machines that do not have an electrical generator on board.

Thanks to its high power, it allows both the handling of large quantities of ferrous material and the separation of smaller pieces from non-ferrous materials.

The magnet's versatility immediately proved invaluable: in addition to its primary function, it is now also used for yard cleaning, preventing tire punctures and keeping the work area safer and tidier.

To ensure maximum safety and ease of use, we provided all the necessary documentation, from the certificate of correct installation to the practical guide for safe use. The material handler and the electromagnet were delivered to the SIME plant in San Giovanni Lupatoto by Servicemek personnel, who also trained the operators, ensuring a quick and trouble-free start-up.
